Topic-Based Writing

quiver of arrowsIn our critique group and in the local writers association there has been discussion about how to gather and group information whether it’s for a fantasy novel, a memoir a motivational book, or any type of writing.

Some suggest you create little islands of information initially and then group them into something that gives them an order. Another school of thought suggest creating little bundles of information and then arranging them. Yes, a reader expects a book to have a beginning, middle and end, but that doesn’t mean you have to write it that way!

In any event, I was given a link to another discussion about organizing writing that people may find of interest. The title is Topic-Based Authoring Benefits Translation, which is actually about organizing your writing. It sounds somewhat esoteric, but anything that provides writers with another perspective I think has value. The link is below.
