I’m in the process of re-reading On Writing by Stephen King. At least I think I’m re-reading. I thought I read it years ago but don’t remember that the first half of the book is a memoir — and a rather honest if scary one at that — and the second half is about writing.
He is candid about talent or the lack thereof, about the time and place to write, how much to write each day, where to write and the importance of reading for writers. Good stuff. Should be in every writer’s library.
I also like his high praise for The Elements of Style.
Next read is The First Five Pages: A Writer’s Guide to Staying Out of the Rejection Pile by Noah Lukeman.
