pumpkin with candy cornHere is some good stuff from an NBC affiliate in Chicago. Yes, social media is free but that does not mean it should be abused. In fact there are urban legends about social media that are to be avoided. They are:

1. Social media is free advertising.

2. Buying lists is the fastest way to grow your email contacts.

3. Daily deals will kill your small business.

4. Requiring registration to access content on your website is a great way to build your email list.

5. It doesn’t hurt to have a few friends write false, positive reviews on sites like Yelp and TripAdvisor.
