Stalled Conversations

Today (October 11, 2011) Seth Godin has a new post about “open conversations.” The subject is how a comment, if handled properly, can lead to a productive and open conversation.

At times it seems to us that the current craze about getting plugged in to the “right” social medium is less about having something of value to post and more about just being present. We know a person who has linked together their three web sites, a number of email addresses and their social media pages. “It’s convenient,” we’re told.

But they haven’t posted anything in months. Our suggestion is to select one medium and use it for six months. Then evaluate. Are you having more conversations? Are they open? Are they meaningful?

Comments welcomed.
