Managing Virtual Teams

Mike Haberman of HR Evolution recently shared some great take aways from a discussion conducted by  Eric Winegardner of Monster.Com.  The discussion was about three essentials for managing virtual teams.  He talked about Expectations, Enabling, and Expenses, often some of the most important things that are over looked.  You can see the rest of his post at

I would add that another essential that each team member should know is how they are accountable to the team. Not just their individual work assignment, but their assignment to the team. Not just being able to check off the attendance block, but their assignment to the team.  How are they important to that team.  What do they bring to the team that helps each other team member.

Developing a devotion to the team and responsibility to the team itself is one of the things that can make a huge difference in the performance of the team.  Team members should be so devoted to the team, that they will do anything to not disappoint the team.
