A few Sundays ago, there was an interesting article in our local paper by Anthony Balderrama, a writer and blogger for CareerBuilder.com and its job blog, TheWorkBuzz.com. www.pnj.com It was a great list of tips to aid the first-time job seekers in landing a position.
Number 3 of his list is “find a mentor or buddy”, and I agree that this is very important. But, I think that it is even more important for that first-time job seeker or any job seeker, to find a team.
You could find a “team” in a local “job club” . If the job club is set up right, you will find lots of people who can share information and hold you accountable. It’s a great place to get local ideas about finding a job. But, if you hear lots of negative talking going on, just move on. You don’t need to be part of the negative mood. Plus, if they are not set up to keep you accountable, it turns into a nice social group.
If the job club is not right for you, why not set up your own Advisory Team. It’s not that hard to do and could be the most valuable thing to move your job hunt into success. Get some tips from our website: www.teampoweredsuccess.com and be watching this blog for more ideas.
